How to Help Make Your Wedding Video Amazing!

Yes! We are sooooo excited you have taken the leap and decided to invest in a wedding video.  You will not regret it for a moment!

How to Have The Perfect Wedding Film. An Amazing Wedding Video. Hiring a Videographer.

Now that you have a booked a videographer, you need to start planning.  Your video will be as amazing as you allow it to be.  Do you want amazing moments of personalized vows, beautiful love notes during getting ready, or maybe a surprise flash mob at the reception?  These are all such incredible ideas!! Here are our top 5 tips to help make these big moments a big part of your wedding day.

  1. Communication!

Your videographer is there to capture your day and tell your story.  He or she is there the film your stunning personalized wedding, and show case it in a way that represents your day and your love.  The best way to have this happen is communication.  Make sure you let the videographer know everything you want captured (to a reasonable request).  If they deliver a 7-10 min highlight film, they need to know what you want to see most of.  Maybe you really want lots of footage of your family and friends dancing the night away on the dance floor of your reception.  Maybe you want to keep the focus on you and your new spouse, show casing your love, your vows and your embraces.  Maybe you really want to keep the speeches at the centre of the film.  If you find time to FaceTime with your videographer you guys can dream up a film that is perfect for you!  The more planning you do in advanced, the less stressful and more catered the film will be.

  2. Audio is key.

If you are dreaming up this wedding film that will bring people to tears and flood you with emotions, you need to have a wedding day that is equally as emotional.  If you aren’t comfortable talking in public or sharing deep beautiful feelings for vows that is okay.  How about you two sit down and write a poem that describes your love or even write love notes to each other for the wedding morning.  That way we can get audio of your voice and emotions and add such a dramatic emotional aspect to your wedding film

  3. It’s what you make it.

Treat the video camera as if it is not there.  Easier said than done I know.  For more tips on how to be natural in front of the camera you can check out another one of my blog posts.  If you can push past the awkward stage and truly allow yourself to feel the love and joy and excitement that you feel about marrying the love of your life, and you allow yourself to show it, your wedding video will be so much more authentic and emotional.  Allow yourself to cry if it is natural or to laugh and run and have fun!  It is your wedding day and you should feel so much joy and let it run through your body.

  4. Involve your family.

Maybe you really would love a sit down interview of your grandparents, parents or friends sharing memories of you and your spouse, or giving you advice for your marriage.  This can be such a beautiful addition to your film (which may cost an additional fee.). It is an amazing way to bring your close friends and family into the film.

  5. Plan ahead and Have Fun!!

If you plan out you’re beautiful decor at the wedding venue and have the day planned out.  It is time to have fun!! This is a day to celebrate and party!  Have the music playing, the drinks if you want and the laughter roaring!  Lets make every-moment of your wedding day a time to remember.

We focus on photographing and filming intimate weddings, adventurous elopements and destination weddings.  I have fallen in love with Italy and Morocco, but we have found a piece of heaven here in Canada as well.   A large portion of our summer weddings will be in the Okanogan, (Kelowna, Kamloops, Vernon, Salmon Arm).  We have found the venues are incredible and it helps take away the stress and allow you to be free to enjoy the day and capture picture perfect moments.

We are local to Fort St John BC and Dawson Creek.
